We are proud to announce a new arrival. It's not the bouncing, girgling kind; but snappy snap sort. We have a new camera. Wanting to take the new toy for a spin, we headed to Centennial Park on a perfect Autumn Day
Add Comment Alright. So it has been a dreadfully long time since the last post. Virtually the whole summer infact. Why? Well it is summer of course, one is too busy living it to be writing about it ... naturally. In true holiday television style, lets take a trip back to all the highlight to the season that was .... Wedding bells were ringing. In the days leading up to xmas, we were honoured to have some of our favourite people The Northwoods return to the home land for catch ups and a wedding blessing. Appropriate to mark the occasion with a cake. Bottom layer is sticky date, the top moist lemon. Both layers are gluten free and adapted from recipes by the acclaimed cake maker to the stars Mich Turner
Can you believe there are only 100 shopping days till Easter. Fortunatley the shops are stocking chocolates eggs already - in January! Seriously though, do we really need Easter in the shops so early. Not very helpful for the New Years resolutions hey? There is nothing better than a day off. You get to enjoy all the things you love to do on a weekend, with the added pleasure of knowing that you, unlike your colleagues, are not at work. On a recent day off, the Lamb had a brilliant idea and suggested we go to the annual Sculpture by the Sea. Located at the world famous Bondi Beach, the Sulpture by the Sea exhibition was superb. Recommend to all As we all know, October 31st is Halloween. In our household, that date is also reserved for the birthday of our nephews Kyall and Dylan. 2010 marks the boys tenth birthday and after the success of last years Scream birthday cakes, the boys put the a request for another equally scary cake this year. No problem, except we had only on weekend to complete. a tray of bakery cupcakes becomes.....bloody eyeballsWhen asked by the lovely Rachel and Eddie to join their fundraising team for the World Homeless Day Sleepout at Centennial Park, we jumped at the chance Why? Well first of all we could contribute to Mission Australia's Mission Beat by doing something as simple as sleeping Second. A once in a lifetime opportunity to sleep in the beautiful Centennial Park The start of the evening was quite chilled. With a expected crowd of 350 in attendance, the organisers had done well to provide a multitude of entertainment including local bands, karaoke and a moonlight cinema.
This months challenge was hosted by John from Eat4Fun. The challenge, to delve into what was for me, the unchartered waters of food preservation. The results - ketchup.
The Lamb and I have always been fortunate enough to be surrounded by lots of wonderful kids. Between us we have 11 nephews and 3 nieces ranging from nearly 18 years to 4 months old.
This year we have entered the wonderful time where now our friends are having babies and thus very soon we may have to come to the realisation that the dawning of adulthood is approaching and we are kids no more. Well maybe. To commemorate the arrival of the most recent bundle of joy to to come into this lucky world, I wanted to make something which would be practical, unique and simply stylish; just like her mother. This months Daring Bakers Challenge gave the choice between making either a Baked Alaska or ice cream Petit Fours. Me being a over achiever thought heck yeah...I'll do both!
Augusts Daring Cooks Challenge was hosted by LizG of Bits n’ Bites and Anula of Anula’s Kitchen. The challenge to make the soft yet crispy dumplings from both Russian and Polish origins. The results - yum First step was to make the dough. This for me was probably the part I had the most trepidation about as I've not had a lot to do with pasty or pasta making. Ask Liz about the time I made gnochhi and the resulting shudder is a sure fire indication of how successful that venture was.
