Back in the day the Museum of Contemporary Art was to me a lucky dip as to what you will find. Sometimes works resting more on controversial than quality.
Since the launch of the new wing and cutting edge buildings at Sydney's Circular Quay - the MCA has maintained a consistent flow of innovative artists that sit comfortably on the fence between provocation and admiration.

Currently showing is a retrospective of French artist Annette Messager, with works spanning from the 1970's.
Messagers range is broad, switching from textiles, to photography. Mechanical installations to prose. In this modern age where up cycling and repurposing is increasingly relevant, her work sits perfectly, with materials used looking to have come from another time.
Annette Messager: Motion/Emotion is at the MCA till October 26th and is well worth a look for the mechanical installations alone - many so impressive one can't quite capture in words.
