Faced with the impending birthday of our godson LJ, I was wanting to give a gift that was ultra practical, unique and easy on the wallet. I'd recently seen children's tee pee's at the market but the price tag was not to my liking, so I thought - 'I'll make one!"
So big it barely fit in our house
So off we went to the re-use capital of Sydney - Reverse Garbage in Marrickville. The place is awesome, full of discarded building materials, furniture - anything you can imagine. The day we went was destined as I stumbled upon a 17 metre piece of hessian, previously used for the 2014 Big Day Out and pre-cut pieces of bamboo, already with uniform drilled holes - all for the total price of $16. I was quite chuffed at the find, especially as I have fond memories of many mis-spent summer days spent with LJ's Mum at the Big Day Out so it was a ironic twist for us aging 1990's hipsters.
The cats were quite impressed
So after a quick google I found instructions online here at The Mud Pie Makers blog online. Now not being the most experienced of sewers, I can say that really the end result was achieved through sheer luck and determination.

The birthday boy was very happy with his new play house and now that the days have gotten colder, the play house now alternates between bedroom and outside.
